Creative Writing Facilitation
Can be employed to deliver classes on a recreational basis where participants will learn how to write, explore the different writing forms and get the chance to see their work in print as part of funded projects. Workshops include learning about journaling, memoir writing, short story writing, poetry, novel writing and script writing. All ages and abilities catered for including schools and youth clubs. Fionnuala has a wealth of experience in working within certain subject topics often with a cross community or cross border theme.
Writing for Wellbeing
Can deliver classes in a restorative capacity where the 5 steps to wellbeing can be employed to help those involved through learning, engagement with others and all the benefits that come from using the creative process as an art therapy. Writing can help to combat anxiety or trauma or it can involve simply relaxing, making time for yourself and letting go of the complexities of life. Fionnuala has experience in working with people who have a long-term and enduring mental health diagnosis and can assist in using writing as a tool to manage symptoms.
Personalised Poetry Commissions
Fionnuala will do online or face to face meetings with clients where they can relay the theme of a poem they wish to commission along with details they would like included. She will then weave a story through poetry for your occasion or event and graphics and printing can be added on request. This is a bespoke service that provides a unique, meaningful and very personal gift for the recipient.
History Projects / Local Folklore Writing
Fionnuala has been involved in several funded programs that have involved collating material from local areas to preserve history and document folklore pertinent to that location. These have incorporated field work - visiting places of interest, historical research into archives and genealogy and then writing about findings in story form.
Scriptwriting
Can be commissioned to write short educational scripts for plays or puppet shows in schools or pre-school. Past themes worked on include domestic violence, bullying, online abuse, peer pressure, road safety and the dangers of button batteries and animals for younger children. Can also write full-length scripts to be staged by drama groups.
Coaching
Fionnuala works with individuals who are interested in writing novels, memoirs or life story accounts. She will spend time with them on a one to one basis, give direction through mentoring the process and offer feedback.
Ghost Writing
Can be hired to write autobiographical / memoir content for books on behalf of others in their voice and from their unique point of view. This includes an initial consultation to discuss subject matter, regular update meetings with writing presented and guidance on sourcing a publisher. Working with two clients on life story material at the present time.
Speechwriting
Can be commissioned to write formal speeches for any occasion and this includes meeting with the individual followed by the delivery of material. Speeches that have been written in the past have been heard by visiting dignatories, opened prestigious events, celebrated International Women’s Day and used at commerative ceremonies.
Editorial Support
As an editor Fionnuala will proofread, make ammendments look at content, grammar, punctuation and structure and polish short stories, factual articles and historical pieces in preparation for going to print. She will engage with committees, give guidance on penning stories, rewrite when necessary and monitor deadlines. Additionally she will liaise with content providers and designers and oversee the process to ensure the smooth delivery of any publication in the required time frame. Past clients include The John Hewitt Society, BEAM Creative Networks for cross-border publications, Madden History Group, Maghera Historical Society and several sporting organisations who have enlisted her services this year.
